A dark hawk alights
Atop the cactus he calls
Small birds grow silent.

Another perfect hiking day, this time across wide open Sonoran desert. The sun was hidden behind clouds and there was a breeze, so I didn't suffer much. The flowers are still blooming like crazy. Wish you all were here.
1) Where I hiked.
2) Prickly pear bloom.
3) The rib cage of a cow. (Poetically one might say these are "ruminant remnants".)
4) Bright little cholla flower.
